Our institute has also taken lead in organizing sports competition at Inter-zonal, Zonal and lead college level in sports like Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Swimming and Indoor games etc. After the completion of Zonal, Inter-zonal & Inter Engineering events. Followings best practices are followed in the institute:
1. Dynamic curricula structure strictly in adherence with AICTE guidelines. Regular and Major Curricula content revisions with due help of an expert academicians, industrial personnel and internationally renowned pedagogical experts. Global and local technological trends and impacts are studied prior to such revisions with keeping the program educational objectives in mind.
2. Most of the syllabus focusses on higher level thinking like analyzing, evaluating and creating than just understanding and explaining the concepts.
3. Choice based credit system with Honors and Minor certification Schemes (with additional credits) introduced for aspiring learners.
4. In every semester, academic audit is conducted by Internal and External expert for maintaining quality of outcome based education.
1. Kranti Garment Training Centre : DKTE along with the Ichalkaranji Municipal Council started a Garment Training Centre to provide training facilities the women from poor class in the garment manufacturing, free of cost. As a result of the availability of trained personals, garment industry started to grow in Ichalkaranji and today over 6000 stitching machines have been installed. The DKTE is thus doing a commendable job in the area of women empowerment.

DKTE is playing a vital role for addressing the burning environmental issues with following projects related to the environment.
1. Preparation of Environmental Status Report, Plan and Action : To address the environmental issues in Ichalkaranji, prepared six Environmental Status Reports which highlights on the quality of air, water, soil, noise etc. Further, the environmental management plan given acts, which are useful tool to combat pollution. Also introduced the concept of recycling of wastewater in the industry. This has tremendously reduced the pollution load.
2. Effluent Treatment Plants : Designed & Developed six Effluent Treatment Plants & three common effluent treatment plants for treating Textile Process effluents.
3. Installation of Solar Light System in Rural Area
Other supports are listed below:
1. Organization of Blood Donation Camp: A Blood Donation camp is organized twice in a year, as a social responsibility, around 500 bottles of blood is donated through the society.
2. Social Activities through National Social Service (NSS) Scheme.
3. Organization of Gram Swachata Abhiyan and Village Development programme
4. Providing Medical Equipment to needy patients on nominal charges
5. Helping to orphanage and old people hostels at Chokak Ashram, Solapur Ashram, and Velankar Ashram Sangali
Institute strongly believes that Research is a tool for building knowledge, for facilitating learning as well as nourishment and exercise for the young minds. Since its inception, strong industry-institute interaction helped us to update industrial trends and practical hand-on experience to faculty and students. After granting of Autonomous Status by UGC, New Delhi, and Shivaji University, Kolhapur, the activities are strengthened by setting up R & D Unit.
Activities promoted through R & D Unit are
The Research & Development (R&D) Unit is specifically setup in the Institute to provide specialized administrative and managerial support for the operation of Research. The Unit is composed of Dean, R & D and coordinators from each academic departments.
Along with teaching and academic research leading to UG, PG and doctoral degree, the Institute gives high priority to research and development projects. The approved research centres includes Department of Textiles, Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Sc. and Engineering. Institute emphasis on industrial and sponsored research projects which helps in promoting industry interactions and be associated with real life current industrial or social challenges. The nature of activities being conducted are trouble shooting , product, process and design development, investigating problems relevant to industry, turnkey consultancy and socio-economic issues of the country.
To enrich industrial participation in engineering education, the institute has initiated developing infrastructure including sponsored / funded facilities such as TIFAC-CORE in Technical Textiles; Technology Business Incubation with thirst area in Garment and Textiles; Italian Technology Centre for Textile machines; VLSI Design laboratory, BOSCH Automation Laboratory; Entrepreneurship Development Cell; Smart e-foundry laboratory and Mistubishi Automation Laboratory. To achieve enhanced industrial participation in engineering education, the Institute has established Centre of excellence in nonwoven supported by Ministry of Textiles.
The Institute is actively involved in collaborative research with national as well as international industry / universities to remain as a leader in engineering and technical developments and haring knowledge. A large number of collaborative MoUs are under operation. For promoting academic and research activities MoUs have been signed with industries and universities across the globe.
R&D unit plays important role by providing one time seed amount incentive to new faculty for facilitating research, 100% funding for registration of patents as well as publication at journal of repute, 100% funding for presenting research work at international conference held abroad as well as attending national / international exhibitions.
