The institute started the Department of Electronics  Engineering in 1989, which is an eight semester Degree Course. Globalization has brought about a revolutionary change in the Electronics and Telecommunication sector. The world is moving towards the deployment of the fifth generation of mobile communication. This has resulted in an ever-increasing demand for Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers in India and abroad. Taking into account this fact, the Institute decided to convert the Electronics Engineering Program in to Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in 2020-21, with an intake of 120 students at UG level and 12 students at PG level. The Department has been accredited three time by NBA (2003,2008 and 2017).

The Department is committed for disseminating knowledge and providing students with the opportunities to excel in their careers. The primary objective of the Department has been to impart quality education and training at the undergraduate level in various areas of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering with a broader emphasis on the design aspects of electronic systems.

The Department has a team of dedicated faculty members with a strong commitment to engineering education and excellence in the teaching-learning process. The faculty are carrying out teaching and research in the thrust areas like communication technology, artificial intelligence, data science, automation, Internet of Things, process control engineering, image processing, etc. Currently, ten faculty members of the department are doctoral degree holders and most of the remaining faculty are pursuing the doctoral degree.

Faculty and students have published papers in high impact international journals indexed in database of Scopus, Web of Science, etc.  Our faculty have authored more than 25 academic books which were published by International Book Publishing Companies. The curriculum encompasses multifaceted areas like Analog and Digital Communication, Optical Fiber Communication, Computer Networking, Digital Signal Processing, Wireless Communication, RF and Microwave, and Embedded and VLSI Design to comply with the needs of the worldwide electronics and telecom revolution.

To maintain the highest standard of technical education and craft the world-class professionals, the department has signed MoU with various industries and academia from India and abroad. The department is accredited by Tata Consultancy Services, which facilitates the campus placement, training, and entrepreneurship of our students. To cater for the needs of the engineering fraternity at the University level our senior faculty members are providing their services in various capacities towards the Board of Studies (BoS), Departmental Advisory Board (DAB), Adjunct faculty, PhD referee, Board of Examinations (BoE), etc. Apart from the university level, our faculty members are holding distinguished posts at various reputed professional bodies, including the editorial board of journals, book/paper reviewer committee, etc.

In today's scenario technology is changing every day, therefore to cope with the same, faculty members are updating themselves with the latest technical knowledge by attending various workshops, seminars, conferences, industrial training, certification courses etc. The Department is well-equipped with state-of-art laboratories equipped with various software and hardware tools to cater to the needs of undergraduate students. Some of the high-end instruments available in our laboratories include Spectrum Analyzers, Digital Storage Oscilloscopes, High-Frequency CROs, Radio Frequency Signal Generators, etc. Apart from this, the laboratories have standard experiment kits for Radio Frequency Design, RF Filters, Digital Telephony, Digital Communication, Analog Communication, Antenna and Wave Propagation, etc. Department has an industry-standard Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design and Fabrication facility especially developed to cater the needs of Mini Projects, Graduation Projects, and hardware design-related workshops.

The Department has established a good rapport in the industries, due to which several industries like Texas Instruments, Hansa Embedded Systems, Cypress technology, Mitsubishi Electric, NXP Semiconductor, IFM Electronic, Freescale Semiconductors, etc. have donated their industry-standard equipment and trainer kits to the department. Till today the department has fetched funds of more than Rs. 60 Lakhs from government bodies like AICTE, DRDO, DST, etc. under various schemes.

The healthy and conducive atmosphere maintained in the department reflects itself in the percentage of passing in the final year, which is consistently more than 90%.  Until becoming autonomous, the students of our department have been feathered with several University Merit ranks as well as University Gold Medals.

The students of our department are part of various student chapters like- the Communication Students Association (COMSA), Electronics Engineering Students Association (EESA), IETE, IEEE, and IUCEE-SPEED. These students' chapters are actively engaged in organizing various technical events like TechSymposium, paper presentation, project exhibition, circuit building, programming, campus booster, etc. Apart from this, the students' chapter also coordinates social functions like Teacher's Day, Engineer's Day, Guru-Pournima, etc. These events are helpful for the personality and multifaceted development of our students and provide a platform for students to learn technical, organizational, and managerial skills. Every year students are winning several prizes in different co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.

Every year a substantial number of our graduates pursue higher education at leading institutes in India and Abroad. To accelerate the placement scenario, the Department conducts dedicated soft-skill and technical skill development courses for Third year and Final year students. The alumni of the department are working in reputed organizations like IBM, CISCO, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Citi Bank, L&T, Tech Mahindra, Mind Tree, Global Edge, etc. To meet industry requirements, the Department encourages the students to complete industrial internships, and industry-sponsored projects and the Department regularly organizes Industrial Training for students. Students carry out projects based on technologies of voice recognition, navigation control, mobile operated control devices, android app development, cloud computing, robotics, sensors, security, Machine Learning, IoT, etc. Besides placements, the department is coordinating with the students to help them to set up their industry through Entrepreneurship Development Cell.
